Optimized parking space allocation

Available on-street parking spaces in Athens are marked on the street (road markings and signs) and are distributed between residents of the city (special permit required – paid annually) and guests (on-demand payment through the MyAthensPass parking application). With this policy the Municipality of Athens is able to identify areas with very high or very low visitor demand, to allocate more efficiently the available spaces between residents and guests. This will ensure that there are no spaces either left unused or in very high demand, while maximising the revenue from parking space tickets. In addition, the information on parking space availability per area and per time of day can be accessed by city visitors, to facilitate them in the search for a parking space, by suggested less crowded areas at a given time and day.
